Data processed

The image you capture or select, its technical metadata (dimensions, compression, EXIF data if present), and the generated report.

We do not collect your contacts, location, or advertising identifiers, and we do not scan your gallery.

Camera

Unmask uses the camera only for the shot you want analyzed. The image is used to estimate whether it was AI-generated and to spot suspicious areas.

The permission is requested only on your first shot and can be revoked from your device settings.

Photos and upload

Unmask accesses photos only for the image you pick. No gallery scanning, no background access.

On iOS you can grant access to selected photos only: the app still works the same.

Retention

The image is transmitted over an encrypted channel to the analysis service, processed to produce the report, and not stored on our servers once processing is complete.

Images are not used to train models.

Report history is saved on your device only if you enable the optional consent, and can be deleted at any time.

Legal basis and withdrawal

Processing is based on your explicit consent (GDPR art. 6.1.a) for analysis, and on separate, optional consents for history and statistics.

You can withdraw any consent from Account › Privacy and permissions: withdrawal deletes local data and blocks new analyses.

Tracking and ATT (iOS)

Unmask does not include advertising SDKs and does not share data with third parties for tracking purposes: by default no advertising identifier (IDFA) is read.

If you enable the optional measurement, on iOS 14.5+ the App Tracking Transparency prompt appears after an in-app explanation: declining it leaves the app working the same way.

You can change your mind at any time from Account › Privacy and permissions and, for the system permission, from Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Updating your choices

Consent choices can be withdrawn or changed at any time; we keep on your device the date and version of the accepted notice plus a local history of changes.

When we update the notice, we ask you to review and reconfirm your consents before the next analysis.

Minors

The app is not intended for children under 13 and does not require data that would allow their profiling.
